After
taking the self-awareness survey, I realized I score well below the mean for
nearly every test in the book. The way I see it is that I have a lot to learn
and improve upon. I have taken related classes in the past and I quickly
noticed that there is a distinction between what I would really do and what I
believed I should do.
For
some of the tests I thought I would have scored quite well, especially in
regards to Emotional Intelligence because this was a hot topic in a lot of my
classes back in Uni, however this was in fact one of my lowest scoring ones in
the book. This makes me believe that there is a disconnect between what I learn
in school and what I actually put into practice (well, at least in theory
because the situations the book puts you in are all imaginary).
There
really is only one way I believe to make use of this information and that is to
view this as an opportunity to be open-minded and learn new things. That being
said, I also realize that learning things in theory is one thing, putting them
into practice is another. I hope to be able to take what I learn and apply the
different elements into my day to day work environment.
